Te Mana to finish her piracy patrol soon

The New Zealand Navy ship tasked with fighting piracy in the Gulf of Aden will be heading home soon.

The HMNZS Te Mana is currently patrolling the patch of sea between Yemen and Somalia as part of NATO's Operation Ocean Shield.

Its key role is in helping ensure merchant and fishing vessels are able to freely move without fear of being attacked by pirates.

The frigate will finish her seven month deployment next month.
